The Community for Conscious Living is a nonprofit, educational organization with a strong ecumenical focus that was established in Riverside, California in 1992. We are a group of inquiring students who share a desire to expand our spiritual horizons. We come from a variety of secular and religious backgrounds. We each seek to enrich our individual beliefs and experiences through spiritual practice and study of the world’s great religious traditions and their commentators, both ancient and contemporary. We desire to draw closer to the loving and enhancing Spirit which pervades all creation and which guides our journey and inspires our compassion for all beings.

We are grateful for the fundamentals of our personal faiths, and recognize the gifts that our religious traditions have given us—the hope, even the assurance, that we may see more clearly our inseparable unity with that which both transcends and embraces us. We are not a religious institution nor are we an alternative to church. We see ourselves as a valuable adjunct to organized religion because of our interest in the higher realms of spiritual development.

We are students of the journey. In our appreciation and enthusiasm for our personal growth, we wish to share with other seekers the discovery process through education and individual spiritual practice. We believe that one way to explore the meaning of life is to stop and look inward. But we do so with a light touch, avoiding the urge to take ourselves too seriously. We welcome all seekers, regardless of their religious orientation, who are interested in deepening their spiritual life.
